FAQS

Non-Welded Piping Technology

Q. What is Non-Welded piping?
Non-Welded piping is a type of piping system where there is no welding involved for the fabrication and assembly of pipes. Primarily there are no hot works present for the assembly and the technology inherits a lot of advantages.
Q. Is Non-Welded piping reliable?
Yes. It has been used all over the globe and has proven its reliability in many organizations where it has been implemented.
Q. Is Non-Welded piping cost effective?
Yes it is cost-effective. Non-Welded Piping may be a bit expensive initially compared to welded piping for the piping materials during installation, but the benefits it provides throughout the life cycle of the system will surpass the expectations of the consumer.
Q. Is Non-Welded piping suitable for high pressures?
Yes. Our Non-Welded piping products can take pressure of up to 9,300 psi.
Q. Why should I go with Non-Weld?
Non-welded piping system has lot of intrinsic advantages compared to welded type like 1) Time Saving 2) Cost-Effective 3) Safe 4) Clean 5) Reliable 6) Easy to Repair 7) Flexible in Spaces. These benefits considerably outweigh the small initial cost benefits of welded type. Non - weld technology will ensure longer life, cleaner installation and worry free maintenance over the life cycle of the piping system.

Non-Weld Flange (37 Degree Flare Flange & Retain Ring Flange)

Q. What is 37 Degree Flare Flange System?
37 Degree Flare Flange System is a pipe connection system where the pipe end is flared to 37 Degrees using a flaring machine with a flaring pin-die combination and having the flange slipped onto the pipe prior to flaring. The connection is then complete by doing the same process on the other pipe and connecting the two pipes using fasteners and flat face and o-ring face cone in between.
Q. What is Retain Ring Flange System?
Retain Ring Flange System is a pipe connection system where the surface at pipe end is grooved througout the diameter. The flange is slipped onto the pipe and retain rings are placed on the grooves. The connection is then complete by doing the same process on the other pipe and connecting the two pipes using fasteners with an o-ring seal retainer in between.
Q. Why do you have two types of System (i.e. 37 Degree Flange and Retain Ring Flange System)?
For pipes/tubes with thickness of Sch 40 and Sch 80 we generally use 37 Degree Flare Flange System. For Sch 160 pipes/tubes we use Retain Ring Flange System.
Q. Is there a specific tube requirement for 37 Degree Flare Flange System?
For Carbon Steel Pipes/tubes, flaring can only be done on DIN 2391c/EN 10305-4 pipe standards. For Stainless Steel pipes/tubes flaring can be done on almost all standards provide they are seamless.
Q. Is there a specific tube requirement for Retain Ring Flange System?
Retain Ring Flange System can be used on almost all pipe stadards in Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel provided they are seamless.
Q. What is pre-fabrication?
Prefabrication is a process where pipes are fabricated at the TMI Factory, painted and shipped with proper packaging to the installation site. Prefabricated spools are ready to be installed spools and do not require any extra machining/working on the pipes/tubes.
Q. Is 37 Degree Flare Flange System and Retain Ring Flange System Globally accepted?
Yes, both the systems are DNV-GL, ABS,LR, CCS,RMRS type approved.
Q. In what materials are 37 Degree Flare Flange System and Retain Ring Flange System available?
They are available in Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel (SS316).
Q. For what applications do we use 37 Degree Flare Flange System and Retain Ring Flange System?
They are used mainly for hydraulic applications. They are also used in lubrication oil piping.
Q. Upto what pressures and temperature can 37 Degree Flare Flange System and Retain Ring Flange System take?
Based on the pressure requirement of the system, we propose either of the two systems. These two flange systems can take pressures upto 6000 psi.

Pyplok® and its applications

Q. What is Pyplok®?
Pyplok® is a 360 degree radially compressed fitting. Pyplok® is a weld-less, thread-less way of joining pipes.
Q. Does Pyplok® have metal to metal seal?
No. Pyplok® uses o-rings to seal.
Q. What is the maximum pressure & temperature that Pyplok® can take?
Pyplok® can take pressures upto 9300 psi. However pressure ratings for each sizes, materials vary. A 1" NPS Stainless Steel Pyplok® can take pressures of 7600 psi whereas a 2" NPS Pyplok® can take pressures of 6400 psi.

The temperatures that Pyplok® can withsatnd depends on the O-rings. The Oring temperature ranges are- for EPDM it is –15°F to +400°F and Viton it is -60F to 400F.
Q. Is Pyplok® internationally accepted?
Yes, Pyplok® is type approved by DNV/LR/ABS/BV/Class NK/Korean Register. This makes Pyplok® a widely accepted fitting worldwide. Adding to it Pyplok® is approved by major international navies like US Navy, Australain Navy and Coast Guards like US Coast Guard and Canadian Coast Guard.
Q. Do I need to use different tools for different Pyplok® materials of the same size?
There is no shelf life (no limit) when fittings are stored in dry, ambient temperatures away from sunlight.
Q. How is the sealing in Pyplok®?
Pyplok® is sealed by O-rings.
Q. Can Pyplok® be used for all kind of applications?

Yes, Pyplok® can be used on pitted pipes as shown below.
Pyplok on Pitted Pipes
Q. Can I use Pyplok® on galvanized steel?
Yes, Pyplok® can be used on galvanized steel provided the pipe outside end surface must be cleaned to bare metal for a length of 1.5 times the outer diameter with an 80-120 grit abrasive cloth, abrasive/flapper wheel.
Q. What is the shelf life of the O-rings of a Pyplok® Fitting ?
There is no shelf life (no limit) when fittings are stored in dry, ambient temperatures away from sunlight.
Q. If the Pyplok® Fitting is installed and the system is not run for a longer period of time (1 year or higher) will it affect the O-ring life?
No, it will not affect the O-ring life.
Q. If we see the Pyplok® fitting, the inner seal will be in contact with the working fluid, but the outer seal may not. Will this affect the life of the outer O-ring?
No, it will not affect the life of the outer o-ring.
